A Conversation During Indigenous Awareness Week at TRU

TRU has held indigenous events throughout the 2022/2023 school year that ive witnessed to be transpiring and informative. During the first semester a lot of people especially international students that I talked to were confused about the red dresses in the trees across campus, not knowing they were to raise awarness for MMIG a huge problem across Canada where indigenous girls and women go missing and murdered and go un-noticed by the police. Recognition amoung indiginous problems is an on going issue and Canada and TRU has done their part.

Indiginous awarness week has just surpassed us during the first week of March, TRU and the Indigenous student development put together a eventfull week ranging from a bannok bake off to powwow night. We thought we should continue the indigenous celeberation this week by interviewing a fellow student Christopher Hammond at TRU and have a conversation about his life and how it is to be indgenous while being a student at TRU.
