Fashion METing: Soirée of Style
One of the most important affairs in fashion is around the corner, the MET Gala, which has evolved and transformed with the ticking of the clock, and is considered a ground-breaking evening, where celebrities, artists, an everyone involved in popular entertainment, reflect their idea of fashion with their garments, while also making a statement of their beliefs and views. This event keeps the same purpose, to fund the Fashion Institute, but has modified its way of achieving that goal, so here we will try to explain everything related to the MET Gala, how it became a pillar in fashion history, its changes and the fashion impact it has brought upon society.
Impact in Fashion
Not only do the Met Galas raise money, but they also feature curated fashion. In addition to raising large sums of money as donations, this once-a-year event has become renowned for the grand styles displayed and the large amounts of money collected. Rather than simply dressing formally and strutting down the red carpet, it is a showcase of fashion as art. Upon invitation, guests are assigned a new theme every year. As a result, the theme developed is supposed to convey a story that is linked to the history of fashion and its effects on the future. During the event, the main attraction is the red carpet entrance that winds up the steps of the Metropolitan Museum. It provides celebrities with an opportunity to showcase their elaborate costumes, which are usually designed and developed over several months. This is more than just a chance to walk the red carpet. It’s an opportunity to take part in a moment in history that will live to be remembered forever. The Met is known for several iconic moments in fashion. Such as Naomi Campbell in an elegant silver shimmer Versace dress in 1995. Lil Kim in a pink two-piece Versace outfit in 1999 and several others to name a few. There is no doubt that these looks were trend-setting pieces that shaped the fashion world in that era and future trends as well.
